No 630-AA Lubriplate Grease is the lubricant used in the outboard lower unit "First Aid Kit". This product has an exceptional resistance to water. It is thick and when instilled into the lower unit, will adhere to the gears preventing further damage. Also good to use for jack plates and outboard jet pump bearing routine maintenance.
You should order a spare tube if you think you won't repair your gear case leak in the near future. You will need to check your lube level every few hours of motor use. A rule of thumb gauge:
- 1.5 - 25 HP motors will require 1 tube, plus one spare; - 25 HP - will require 2 tubes, plus a spare ;
- 30 - 70 HP with 3 3/8th inch diameter gearcases will use 2 - 4 tubes, plus a spare to maintain.
(4 inch gear cases may take up to 4 tubes)
The diameter of your lower unit will help you determine the number of tubes of grease you will require - the cost is quite low, so don't cut yourself short.
