Tom and Mary Cain are the owners of The Boat Shop.  Tom was born and raised in the Puget Sound Area of Washington State. He has been around boats and motors all of his life.  He raced tunnel hulls from 1969 to 1983, acheiving the world record for the SI class of the OutBoard Performance Craft Association.  He has been in the the boat and motor business since 1972.  We started using the name "The Boat Shop" (TBS) with his business in Oregon in 1988.  Tom's expertise includes building and rebuilding boats and trailers; propellers; and a knack for making old motors work.

We are retired, Tom has a home mobile marine business; Mary retired from nursing the end of 2006.  We are excited to get this web site up and running (Mary's job), in hopes of sharing Tom's many years of expertise and meeting some of your boating and motor needs.
